Nice article Solo! A lovely balance of experience and your learning.

You thought about doing one of your documents of resources for those of us that are old and have missed the best bits of ITT happening now, so we can dip into it?!

Fascinating to hear about your teacher training earlier in the 2000s, thanks for sharing this. Having finished my own teacher training more recently, a lot of the things you are describing are very similar to what I was taught as well, but to give some credit, there was definitely a greater emphasis on cognitive psychology. The limits of experience is certainly something I saw under acknowledged in my own ITT, where there was an unavoidable emphasis on constructivism and experiential learning reminiscent of your own training.

I'm not very familiar with the Australian teacher training system, so this was an equally interesting comparator to read about.

Do you have a sense at all as to how schools can create this culture of professional learning where experienced teachers are encouraged to question and update established practices, rather than simply passing them on to the next generation? Given that so many teachers that have passed through previous iterations of ITT remain, as you've said, I imagine this will be a growing challenge for schools to encourage and promote such an evolved CPD offering.
